Amish Paste 85 days.  Wonderful, large sauce tomato, flavourful and juicy with few seeds.  Ox-heart shaped fruits are 8-10 oz.  A late 1800’s Pennsylvania Amish heirloom. Blemish-free fruits resist shoulder cracking. Indeterminate & needs support.

Gilbertie 85 days. These are amazing paste tomatoes!  Huge, banana shaped tomatoes with an excellent, rich flavor.  Such meaty tomatoes that are this big are rare.  Add in the excellent flavor, and you have a winner. A long-time favourite heirloom rediscovered & popularized by High Mowing Seeds of Vermont.

Hungarian Heart  85-90 days. Enormous, oxheart-shaped fruits easily weighing in at one pound. Heavy, solid fruits have very dense flesh with very few seeds. Its sweet, meaty taste excel equally for fresh slicing, canning or roasted tomato sauce. Said to have originated near Budapest, Hungary and first appeared in North America at the turn of the 19th century. Indeterminate – requires support.

Mr. Fumarole 70 days.  Although classified as a paste or sauce tomato, Fumarole is anything but! It is juicier than most, has thin, pinkish skin and a tart sweetness that has to be experienced to be described. Every fruit is esthetically perfect, with no tendency to cracking or scarring. Very resistant to blossom end rot.

Opalka 82 days.  High yields of 3-inch by 5-inch solid torpedo-shaped fruits with dry texture and few seeds. Round and mellow flavour. Polish heirloom from 1900. One of our favourites!

Purple Russian 75 days.  Mid-season variety from Ukraine. Plum-shaped fruits are 3 inches long & great for salsa, salads & preserving. Very dark purple fruits on indeterminate plants. Subject to shoulder cracks in wet weather in our experience.

Red-Striped Roman 75 days.  A beautiful tomato - elongated torpedo shape with wavy vertical striping of yellow & orange. Very firm, dense & dry making it a superb sauce or paste variety. Medium indeterminate – should have support.

Roma VF 70 days.  Plants are strong and vigorous. Dependable production of meaty, thick-walled fruit with deep red colour and mild flavour. An old standby for home processing of paste, puree and sauce.

San Marzano 80 days.  A superb and spectacular producer of blocky, elongated and dense red fruits with few seeds. An Italian standby for paste or puree with high solids and little juice. Indeterminate growth.

Tegucigalpa 80 days.  A very rare paste-type “folk variety” from Honduras, and grown in Nicaragua as well. Small elongated fruits resemble banana peppers and hang in clusters. Very good balanced flavour and quite productive. Excels for canning and sauces.
